Mobile embedded computing application outside with video interface
Press release from 14.02.2006 )
Jena, 14 February 2006 – At Embedded World 2006 in Nuremburg, MAZeT presents a customer-specific, real-time computer platform intended for mobile use outside.
Mobile embedded computing application outside with video interface
Customer- specific control computer

The real-time platform is based on the E²Brain-Module ‘MEB5200’ designed by MAZeT and, thanks to the Coral PA graphics processor from Fujitsu, can offer a powerful range of video functions, as well as the MPC5200 processor. In addition to standard interfaces such as RS232, Ethernet, IDE (CF) and USB, a video input is also integrated. The incoming video stream is displayed in real time. With consumption of less then 2W when running in full operation mode, a working temperature range of (-40...+85)°C and excellent robustness against shaking and shocks, the board is qualified for mobile use and battery operation.

UBoot is used as the bootloader, providing boot media support for the network, USB and IDE components such as CF cards, HDD and CD-ROM. Less than 512 kB of memory is needed for the embedded Linux operating system (Kernel 2.4). Two extensions are available for Windows-orientated application programmes: a Windows Manager is implemented for standard applications, in addition to the Qt/X11 libraries. This software uses approx. 45 MB of memory. Higher integration can be achieved using Qt/Embedded, whereby all PDA applications can be run. This takes up less than 5 MB of memory on the mass storage device.
